Timor-Leste Independence Day Online Celebration

Ines Almeida, Timor-Leste Ambassador to Australia
will discuss current issues including Covid 19, travel bubble and seasonal workers

Bernard Collaery – An update to the legal case against Bernard and Witness K, so revealling of the current political, economic and ethical situation Australia finds itself in. There are serious legal constraints on what Bernard is able to say, but his words are always inspiring.

A Tribute to Jill Jolliffe will be presented. Jill Jolliffe has had a long association with Timor-Leste, visiting as a member of a student delegation in April 1975 and witnessing the first incursion of Indonesian troops and reporting on the deaths of the Balibo Five later that year. She lived in Portugal for 21 years, has been a correspondent for numerous news agencies and has written eight books, mainly focussing Timor-Leste.

Performances by accomplished Timor-Leste singer songwriter – BEPI – streaming LIVE from Dili
and by ETSA Cultural Group introduced by Tonny Castro and streaming live from Footscray.

This is a free event, but we do have costs.
We are paying modest fees to the musicians and dancers and have ongoing overhead costs.
Any donation large or small is greatly appreciated. We are hoping for an average of $10 per head.
